Obituary

Joseph Anthony Rini, born December 26, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday October 3, 2019, surrounded by his family.

Joe was an only child, and beloved son, who considered the care of his parents, Santo and Josephine, a responsibility and a great privilege, even from a very young age. Joe was a devoted husband to Nancy, his bride of 56 years. Together, they created a family of 5 children and built a home whose doors were always open to welcome extended family, friends and anyone in need. He instilled the values of hard work, diligence in study, and respect for others into his children. He cared for many of his extended family members when they were in need. He was a consummate family man and supported all those close to him.

Joseph was an active member of both St. Philip Neri and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs parishes on Long Island, New York. He was a lector at Sunday Mass for many years and devoted hours of his time in service to the Church. Joe, alongside Nancy, led both Marriage Encounter Weekends and Pre Cana workshops, demonstrating to the participants, family and friends, their deep faith and commitment to Christ and the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Joe lent his many professional talents to the Church, assisting with the digital transformation of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs' parish office. He volunteered at the parish Entrepreneurial Workshop, assisting parishioners looking to build their own businesses in the aftermath of a recession.

Joseph was a selfless, humble and quiet man with a great sense of humor. His smile was unmistakably authentic. He will be deeply missed and his example and memory will live on in the countless lives he touched. Joseph is survived by his wife, Nancy, his five children - Josephine, Gabrielle, Peter, Nancy and Concetta, and four grandchildren, Grace Ann Limoncelli, Daniel Joseph McCourt, Miles Joseph Rand, and Ramona Pipia Rand.

There will be a Funeral Mass held 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach.
