Obituary

Joseph Charles Tricomi, Jr., 87, passed on to heaven on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He was born in Astoria, New York on July 14, 1936, to Joseph and Marie Tricomi. He will always be loved and greatly missed by his devoted wife Ann-Marie Tricomi, son Joseph (Saskia), daughter Nicole Tricomi-Moore (Tom), and grandchildren Marcella Tricomi-Brown (Zachary), Joseph J. Tricomi, Margot Tricomi, Masa Moore, and Logan Moore as well as great-grandchildren Jonah and Kylie Brown and numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and very special friends. Predeceased by his first wife Ellen in 2001 and his sister Carol in 2003.

A graduate of St. John's Preparatory School and St. John's University, he faithfully followed SJU Basketball, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

Joe and his family moved to New Jersey and lived there for many years. He was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua in Hightstown, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus whom he later served as Grand Knight. He was very active in youth activities, including starting KofC basketball leagues and coaching both boys and girls. Coaching and teaching were important parts of his life.

Joe and Ellen moved to Florida in 1990 and quickly came to love it - Joe was an avid golfer and proud of his Hole in One as well as volunteering at The Kravis Center of West Palm Beach while working as an accountant and financial entrepreneur, Joe traveled the world for both business and pleasure; Especially enjoying Italy and his ancestral home of Sicily. Whether as a coach, a mentor, a sailor, a champion poker player, or a master of pinochle, Joe was happy to share his knowledge with anyone willing to learn. He appreciated a well poured Crown Royal Manhattan and the music of Frank Sinatra.

A constant throughout his life was his Faith. His belief in God supported and lifted him through trying times, including when his wife Ellen, his high school sweetheart, passed away in 2001. The Lord was definitely looking out for him – introduced by Ellen's best friend, he later met Ann-Marie and they were married in 2003. Their love and devotion to each other was clear for all to see.

A man always game for a healthy debate, he only insisted it was done with respect and humor. Most challengers, however, quickly learned that they never stood a chance and came to realize he was an irreplaceable, objective source of wisdom and knowledge.

Joe always made sure to thank the Lord for the many blessings in his life - Grace before meals was an integral part of Sunday dinner, especially when he made his grandmother's tomato sauce. His devotion as a husband, father, and friend to many is a testament to his faith in God Who guided him. In turn, everyone he touched will remember him for his kindness, loyalty, guidance, dedication, and love.
