IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita
Delane
February 3, 1929 – July 11, 2025
Billie DeLane went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2025
Born Verna Juanita Brown on February 3, 1929. Known to us all simply as Billie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russell (Pete) and their three sons, Russell Jr. (Rusty) David Anthony (Tony) and Allyson Lee (Al).
A force to be reckoned with Billie had a zest for life. A consummate hostess, her home was always immaculate and ready to entertain. Everyone was welcome and the bar open. A social person, she never met a stranger. She was a talented seamstress, all types of crafting, and later picking up painting. Her art adorned the walls her home in Tega Cay as well as the place in Windy Hill. Billie even painted a couple of commissions. Her motto was "if it's worth doing it's worth doing right".
After Pete was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Charlotte, NC. She raised a family and armed with a lower secondary education she went on to work 28 years for Gill Manufacturing. Worked her way from Receptionist to Sales Manager. A critical factor in the growth and success of Gill, she even sold implements in England. Billie was very proud of being the first female sales manager in the tractor-drawn equipment industry.
She's survived by her grandchildren Chip, Kriste (Kim), Dusty Leigh (Mickey), Matthew (Miranda), Ashley (Paul), Taylor, Christian (Heather), Russell Keaton and 9 great grand children along with some very special friends.
For the past 2 years she resided in South Florida to be closer to her Granddaughter Kris.
Per her request, her remains as well as Pete's will be scattered in Mobile at a date yet to be determined. Anyone interested in attending please email peteandbilliemem@gmail.com
Memorials can be made in her honor to First Baptist Church of York, SC, Shriners Hospital of Greenville, SC, DAV.org, or your local animal rescue.
