On Monday, April 1, 2019, Judy Hubbard Marx passed away at the age of 69.
Judy was born on May 4, 1949 in Laurinburg, NC to Jesse, Jr. and Margaret (Lewis) Hubbard. The
family moved to Dillon, SC when she was about 6 years old, where she went on to graduate from
Dillon High School.
Judy then studied at Meredith College in Raleigh (along with her twin sister, Jenny), graduating
with a double major in Art and Education.
Judy and her husband Barry, married in 1971, and had 47+ wonderful years together before her
death.
Judy started her professional career as an elementary school teacher at St Timothy's School and then
in Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh. She went on to teach reading to students at Spring Hill
School at Dorothea Dix Hospital, where she eventually became the Principal. In the meantime, she
obtained masters degrees in education at UNC Chapel Hill and NC State University, along with a
Principal's Certificate from NCSU.
In her spare time, Judy loved gardening, painting, basketball and softball, as well as taking long
walks with Barry and their dogs around Lake Johnson in Raleigh. Judy was known for her
wonderful smile and cheerful personality.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Hubbard, her father Jesse Hubbard, Jr, and her
twin sister Jenny Hubbard Ketner. She is survived by her husband Barry and her sister Teresa
Hubbard Davis. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law Paul and Cathy Marx of Boynton
Beach, FL, and Randy and Lynn Marx of Midlothian, VA
The funeral will be Thursday, April 4 at 11 AM, at
