Kathryn Elizabeth Palermo (née Gridley), of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on February 5, 2020, at the age of 85.

Kathryn was born to parents Edmund and Agnes Gridley (née Rafferty) on November 27, 1934, in Queens, NY. She grew up in Woodside, NY and lived her adult life in Islip and Merrick, Long Island, NY.

Kathryn married Frank Palermo on August 12, 1951, and the couple had six children. She retired from Nassau County Medical Center where she worked in the admissions department.

In retirement, Kathryn volunteered at the nursing home and spent many hours reading and keeping up on current events.  She had a never-ending curiosity for learning and valued the importance of education. Even playing Jeopardy was a fun way for her to use her intellect and outdo the best of the contestants.  It gave her much satisfaction to pass on that power of curiosity to her children and grandchildren knowing they were successful in achieving their career goals.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her firstborn son, also Frank, and her siblings Edmund Gridley and Margaret Walsh. She is survived by five children, Daniel, Edmund, Gerard, Kathryn, and Margaret; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one great-

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Boynton Memorial Chapel.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Sacred Heart Parish.

The Final Internment will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, New York.
