Obituary

Lewis Reginal King Jr., age 82, passed away on April 7th, surrounded by his loving family. Lewis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


Lewis was born on November 8, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Lewis and Hazel King. He grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina with his four brothers and sisters. He attended Belmont Abbey College and later Guilford College where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Business. Lewis was a true patriot and a dedicated veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor and distinction. His selfless service and love for his country were evident in everything he did. Lewis worked for IBM for 18 years and had a deep appreciation for technology.


Lewis was a man of many passions, but his love for golf was unparalleled. He spent countless hours on the golf course and was as skilled as any professional golfer. Because of this dedication to practice and his natural ability, Lewis won many golf competitions throughout his life, proudly displaying his many trophies and awards.


Lewis was a provider for his family, always putting their needs before his own. He had an indomitable work ethic and strove to do his best in every situation, no matter how challenging. Lewis was a faithful servant of God and his unwavering belief helped to strengthen and guide him throughout his life.


Lewis was kind to everyone he met and had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room. He was also an avid card game lover, especially when it came to poker, and was always up for a game with friends and family. He also loved reading, watching sports (especially Yankee games), skiing, eating banana splits, visiting his family, watching movies (especially Top Gun and Star Wars), and driving all over the country.


Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Maureen and his step-son Gary, his children Kim, Trae and his wife Liz, Karen and her husband Allen, Kathy and her husband Torgun, Lance and his wife Sara, Elizabeth and her husband Dave, and David, as well as his grandchildren Gus, Trapper, Tyler, Hannah, Mathias, Drew, and Sam. He is also survived by his brother Roy and his wife Sally, his brother John and his wife Deborah, his brothers-in-law Bill and Clyde and many nieces and nephews and their children.


Lewis lived a full and meaningful life, and his legacy will live on through the memories he leaves behind. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering love for his family and friends.
