IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise Angel
Sundermeier
August 5, 1954 – May 9, 2019
Louise A. Sundermeier, age 64, passed away on May 9 th at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida with her husband, son, family and close friends by her side.
The first daughter of Marie-Paule and Benoit Brisson, Louise Marie Angèle Brisson was born August 5, 1954 in Jonquière, Québec, Canada. Louise was followed by a sister, Danielle (1955) and brother, Carl (1961). In search of opportunities for his family and to expand his carpentry practice, Benoit relocated the family from their home in Kénogami, Québec to Cape Coral, Florida in 1965, and finally settled in Margate, Florida in 1974.
Louise had a love of education and helping others achieve. She learned English when the family arrived in Florida and graduated from Northeast High School in 1973. From there, she proceeded to Broward Community College, where she received an associate's degree and also began her career in higher education. She continued her career progression at Barry University, where she also received a bachelor's degree. Louise would also receive a master's degree in education from Florida Atlantic University. With the encouragement of Ms. Lee Ross, an early mentor, Louise accepted an opportunity to join Lynn University (formerly, College of Boca Raton) in 1989 as Director of Career Planning and Placement. Louise would serve at Lynn University in a number of key roles over the next 25 years.
Over the course of her time at Lynn University, Louise became a trusted advisor, leader, and administrator. Louise cherished each relationship with students and colleagues and nurtured friendships that remained through her retirement in 2014 due to her illness, and until her passing. Louise loved Lynn University deeply.
Although Louise's professional success was an important aspect of her life that she was very proud of, she was always able to maintain balance and excelled far more as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.
Louise met Scott Sundermeier in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1973. Louise and Scott would marry on November 5, 1977 and have son, Jason, in 1980. Louise and Scott's 46 years together were nothing short of magical. Louise was a perfect partner to Scott, calm, assertive, and unwavering in her support. She was also the most wonderful mother a son could ever ask for. Through 1998, Louise, Scott and Jason worked hard, traveled and played hard, and spent every possible moment with family and friends. In 1998, Jason met his wife Kelly, and the years that followed would truly define Louise's life. In 2011, her first grandchild, a son, Charles was born. Louise became "Gigi." A granddaughter, Emerson, followed in 2014. Louise was so proud of her grandchildren and loved them immensely. Charles and Emerson adored Gigi, loved to spend time at Gigi's house and loved to go on vacation with Gigi and Papa.
Louise was the foundation of the Brisson and Sundermeier families. Louise, like her mother and sister, was a tremendous host and cook. Gatherings with family and close friends were always a priority.
Louise is survived by her husband Scott, son Jason and daughter-in-law Kelly, grandson Charles, granddaughter Emerson, mother Marie-Paule, father Benoit, sister Danielle, brother Carl, and sister-in-law Lynn, mother-in-law Patricia, brother-in-law Reed and sister-in-law Maryse, and dearest family friends Tom and Debbie Hysell. Louise is also survived by eight nieces and grandnieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Louise's name to Lynn University Endowment Fund (
