Marian Rose Riley, of Boynton Beach, FL, found peace on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 86 years old, after battling a long illness.
Marian was born in Philadelphia, PA. and spent her early years in Pocomoke City, MD. She relocated to New York City when she was in her teens and eventually worked as a secretary for Borden Foods during WWII.
After the war, Marian married returning serviceman William (Bill) Bradley Riley, a former classmate from Davis High School, in Mt. Vernon, NY. A growing family led the couple to purchase a home in Lake Lincolndale, NY where they raised their 3 children and were active in the local lake association and Girl Scouting. Marian balanced her home life with her position as a Right-of-way Specialist with the Hudson River Parkway Authority.
In 1973, Marian and her family chose the warmer climate of Margate, FL. Marian excelled at her position with Broward County as a legal secretary and retired after 15 years.
A voracious reader, Marian also loved to knit, crochet, play cards and master the daily crossword puzzle. She had many wonderful friends who often visited her at her last residence in Palm Beach Leisureville.
Marian's spouse Bill predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by her three loving children: Deborah, Bill (with his spouse, Liz McCloone), and Beth (with her spouse, Sam DePolito). She has two grandsons: Sammy DePolito, and Brad Andre (with his spouse, Heather) plus two great granddaughters: Riley and Reese.
A memorial service will be held in her honor Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Boynton Memorial Chapel on Boynton Beach Blvd. at 11:00 AM.
