Marie Sonnstedt: A Life of Love and Light

Marie Sonnstedt, age 83, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, just two days shy of her 84th birthday. Marie was born on October 21, 1941, in Massapequa, New York, to Joseph and Marion Domingo.

Growing up, Marie was the heart of her family, forging a close bond with her beloved sisters, Fran, Lillian, and Judy, and brother Tommy, sharing a special, lifelong relationship with her cousin and best friend, Harriet. Family quickly became the cornerstone of her world.

For over 40 years, Marie was a dedicated and valued employee at Pickering and Co., later known as Stanton Magnetics. It was there that she met the love of her life, John Sonnstedt. Their deep connection, forged in their shared workplace, would last a lifetime. Marie and John were married on September 5th, 1970, sharing 34 years of marriage defined by warmth and unwavering devotion, before his passing in 2004.

In 1999, Marie and John moved to Boynton Beach, Florida. Though she left New York, Marie quickly built an extended family in Florida, finding a beloved sisterhood of friends who loved and supported her throughout her more than three decades in the community.

Marie is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Robert Trontz, her son, John Sonnstedt Jr., and his wife, Carryn Sonnstedt Purdon, and her three cherished grandchildren, Jack, Katie, and Cole.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Sonnstedt, and their daughter, Donna Sonnstedt. She now rests in peace, reunited with them both.

Service Details
A visitation will take place at Boynton Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm. A prayer service for Marie will begin at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marie's name to the American Heart Association
