Mark Ty Hildreth, 66, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on April 18, 2026. Born on November 1, 1959, in Laurel, Maryland, to Kenneth Hildreth, Jr. and Carole (Bright) Kendall, Mark was a man of remarkable discipline and charisma. After graduating from Pikesville High School in 1977, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he rose to international fame as "Van Hammer" in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During his ten-year career as a fan favorite, Mark traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, leaving an indelible mark on the wrestling world.
Upon retiring from the ring, Mark relocated to Florida and began a successful second career as the Vice President of Operations and Sales Manager at Paradise Exteriors. It was here that he formed a deep, lasting bond with owners Dan and Tina Beckner and their children, whom he affectionately considered his "Florida family." A lifelong advocate for physical wellness, Mark was dedicated to his daily gym routines and a healthy lifestyle. He found his greatest serenity at the beach, where he loved spending time with friends and watching the sunrise. Mark’s legacy of strength, loyalty, and passion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mark is survived by Michael Hildreth, Brother; Michele Billingsley, Sister; Paul Billingsley, Brother-in-law; Kaylan Swartz, Niece; Clark Swartz, Great Nephew; Clare Donley, Niece; Calum Donley, Great Nephew; Michelle Rush, Niece; Megan Pridgeon, Great Niece; Ryleigh Carter, Grand Niece; David Pridgeon, Grand Nephew; Riker Pridgeon, Grand Nephew; Brittany Hildreth, Great Niece
Mark was preceded in death by his father Kenneth H. Hildreth, Jr, his mother Carole J. (Bright) Kendall, and his sister Audette J. Beers.
Mark will be laid to rest with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, the date is to be determined.
