MARY R. (FORESTEIRE) CRESSWELL
Cresswell, Mary R., 76, passed away on January 16th, 2009 with her family at her bedside at JFK's Hospice Unit. Mary was born in Boston MA on January 12th, 1933 to Anthony Fred Foresteire & Mary Angline (White) Foresteire. Mary attended Dix Street Elementary and Commerce High in Worcester, MA. She worked for the Telephone Co. in Worcester & Miami. Mary had many talents as a young teenager. She won first place in a radio talent show playing Warsaw Concerto on the piano. She was an oil painter, painting over 100 paintings including a portrait of her first granddaughter.
Mary met her husband William, a member of the U. S. A. F., when he was stationed in Miami. They courted for three years and were married on July 9th, 1955, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Miami. After leaving the service they returned to MA where Mary worked at Norton Mfg. In April of 1956 they returned to So. Fla. and retired in Boynton Beach. Mary was a Teacher's Aide and Librarian in the Broward County School System. She served as a chaperone, along with her husband, for Miramar HS & Alliance of Miami Color Guards, traveling to different states for competition with their youngest daughter. She stood proudly by her husband's side when he was Ordained as a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Miami. She was an active member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Miramar & most recently a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by William H. Cresswell, her loving husband of over 53 years & four devoted and loving children, Cynthia Cresswell, William Cresswell and his wife Marcy, Robert Cresswell, and Cherie (Cresswell) Andrewson and her husband Tony. She has five wonderful grandchildren who she cherished dearly; Nichole, Casey, Madison, Kinsey and Conner.
She will be sadly missed and warmly remembered by her brother, Edward Foresteire and wife Priscilla, of Princeton MA.; sister's Rita (Foresteire) McHugh; Jean (Foresteire) Peter of Savannah GA.; and Joan (Foresteire) Cain and her husband Bory, and all of their families.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, January 19th, 2009 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 West Boynton Beach Blvd. in Boynton Beach. Contact Boynton Villager at 561-740-0380, for flowers.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in honor of Mary at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 10935 South Military Trail in Boynton Beach at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. A gathering of family & friends will follow after the mass.
A private burial service will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Royal Palm Beach at a later date.
