Obituary

Mary (Campisi) Riguzzi was an extraordinary woman. She was generous, devoted, and guided by unwavering integrity. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness knew no limits. Mary believed in love of family, service to others, and giving her all to everything she did.

She was born at home in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Italy on October 10, 1939. Mary spent the first seven years of her life in Sicily before journeying across the sea to New York.

As a young woman, Mary met the love of her life, Richard Riguzzi. They married soon after and began a life together that spanned over 60 years. They settled in West Harrison, New York, where they built their own home and filled it with family, friends, and celebration. Theirs was a marriage of love, respect, trust, and good humor. Life was marked by countless holidays, birthdays, and large Sunday dinners—often with Mary's famous meatballs as the centerpiece.

Mary took great pride in her career as a secretary for the Harrison School System, where she served for more than 25 years. She was highly respected for her professionalism, warmth, and skill. After retiring, she continued her dedication to public service as the first woman to serve on the Harrison Town Council, bringing her integrity, energy, and commitment to the betterment of her community.

Though she left Italy, she always carried it in her heart and in her traditions—especially its love of family and its joy in sharing meals. She was happiest in the kitchen, cooking dishes that nourished not only the body but the soul. Every recipe was a story, every meal an act of love.

Proud of her heritage, Mary was deeply involved with the Antonio Meucci Lodge in White Plains, part of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. She organized large-scale events, from Italian opera performances to the beloved annual Italian festival, and in 2012, she was honored as their Person of the Year.

In retirement, Mary and Rich enjoyed life in Boynton Beach, Florida, surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys of each day.

Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. We will miss her warm smile, her welcoming table, and her ability to make every gathering feel like home. Her legacy will live on in the meals we share, the stories we tell, and the values she passed down.

Mary is welcomed in heaven by her husband, Richard Riguzzi; her parents, Baldassare Campisi and Antonina (Morello) Campisi; and her brother, Frank Campisi. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Riguzzi and Lisa Fabro; her grandchildren, Nick, Liana, Elizabeth, Mary, James, and Chris; her great-grandson, Angelo; her loving in-laws, Evo Riguzzi, David and Anne Riguzzi, and Leah Campisi; her ten nieces and nephews and their families; and cherished cousins in Italy.

Grazie, Mom, for everything. Ti vogliamo bene per sempre.
