age 81, of Boynton Beach, FL, and Brigantine, New Jersey, passed away on July 13, 2014 in her home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of James Rex Archer (Jim).
Masie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 18, 1932 to Michael and Anna DiMaio where she attended Girls' High school. Shortly after graduation, she married her sweetheart Jim, then a handsome sailor stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. During deployments, they corresponded until Jim proposed in 1949. They recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Masie and Jim raised their four daughters, Kathleen (John Davidson), Deborah (John Perloff) Carol (Potter Rumsey) and Merrie in Philadelphia and later, Brigantine, NJ. She was joyous when spending time with her grandchildren Skylar, Katie, Trey and Jeremy.
Masie loved to entertain family and friends, play cards, cook and dance. She was proud of her Italian heritage and, more than anything she enjoyed having all her family together for holidays and special occasions.
She treasured family most of all, and enjoyed special relationships with her sister Phyllis (deceased), brother Carl and brother Michael (deceased) (Elizabeth) and cherished times with her sisters-in-law Helen, Mollie, Joan, Nancy, Eunice, Janice, Noreen and Dawn, and brothers-in-law, Robert and Dennis.
A compassionate and skilled caregiver, she was always attentive to family and friends when they were sick or ailing, and her unfailing positive outlook was a consolation to all, including her family during her final weeks.
A visitation will be held 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, July 16, at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach. A funeral mass will be held 10 AM Thursday, July 17 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Boynton Beach. Additional visitation and burial will be held in Philadelphia on Monday, July 21.
