Mel Thompson, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully and tranquilly on Thursday, May 29, 2008. Mel was an amazing mother and wife. She would do anything for her children, and many times offered her motherly advice to her friends and family members. She was a kind and caring soul who opened her heart to everyone she came in contact with. She lived her life to help other people, and was very generous. When things had to get done, Mel got them done. A very determined and energetic person, once she put her mind at accomplishing tasks, she didn't quit until she got them done. When someone needed to know something, Mel was always there with the answer. She was the type of person that once you met her, you didn't forget her. Her great wit and humor always made people laugh, and if you didn't, she would tell you in a way until she got you to laugh. She had many hobbies and interests, such as calligraphy, cooking, and decorating, both inside and outside the home. She loved all sports and athletics, and participated at the YMCA in any way she could. Mel was a devoted football fan, and was particularly fond of running, basketball, and volleyball. One of her favorites foods is mangos, and was proud of a mango tree she has in her yard. Her eyes showed the soul of a caring, compassionate, and loving woman, and she will be missed by everyone who had a chance to meet and know her. Her spirit lives on eternally. Mel is predeceased by her mother Delores Williams and her brother Emery Williams. She is survived by her husband Marc Thompson; children Tiffany Williams, Tyler Telfor, and Sophia Thompson; siblings Diane Williams, Regina (Barry) Williams, Robert (Terry) Williams, Oliver Williams, and Shannon Williams; father Robert Williams; step-children Ashley, Andrew, and Connor Thompson, and many other loving family members. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33426. A religious service will be held during the evening visitation at 7pm. Private cremation. A fund is being established in Mel's memory for her children.
