IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Scott
Brown
October 24, 1956 – February 6, 2020
Scott Brown (October 24, 1956 – February 6, 2020)
Beloved son of the late Robert and Patricia Brown
After a valiant and tenacious ten-year fight against cancer and the devastating impacts of a stroke, Scott Brown, a larger than life personality on this earth, is now in the arms of his Creator.
For all who knew him, Scott was a force of nature — a man whose very being defies acceptance of earthly absence and is impossible to capture in the mere written words of this traditional obituary notice, that our culture embraces to bring comfort and closure to loved ones. He was conversely wildly generous with his time and treasure, yet demanding, fiercely devoted, and loyal. He was hardest on those closest to him, a brilliant businessman, and entrepreneurial talent, yet unpredictable and erratic. Although he had no children of his own, he devoted countless hours, resources, and financial support to help many kids pursue their dreams. Scott was magnetic, mercurial, fearless, witty, adventurous, loving, and jovial. He pushed everyone around him to their limit, making them stronger and wiser than they could ever have imagined. If you were at odds with him, you were already defeated, and if you were loved by him, you experienced a kind of ferocious protection that seems irreplaceable.
These incredible qualities enabled Scott to meet and overcome the greatest battle of his life, the devastating and debilitating injuries to his brain that severely limited his ability to communicate and his mobility. Anyone else would have succumbed to these overwhelming injuries, but Scott battled back and regained more mobility and speech capacity than any of his doctors could ever have imagined or predicted. They too, can now be counted among those touched and were amazed by his indefatigable spirit, brilliant mind, resilience, and courage. While his absence here is unimaginable for those who loved and counted on him, they are his greatest legacy. As the sturdiest steel is forged by fire, for all those left behind, they are now defined by a strength they did not know they possessed. While sorrowful in his absence, they are encouraged to extend his legacy in the lives they lead, with courage and conviction.
Scott is survived by his loving and devoted wife, partner, caretaker, champion, and greatest fan, Ginger, as well as a host of family and friends who are struggling to adapt to life without his daily presence. They are all comforted by the knowledge that he would want them to go forward with confidence and joy to live a bold, happy, and good life, just as he did.
