Monica Sclafani, age 73, passed away on March 15, 2026. Monica was born on November 28, 1952, in Queens, NY to Neal Grignon and Virginia Riley Grignon.
Growing up, Monica first learned to appreciate the arts in grade school through her love of music and theatre. She loved her siblings, Victoria, Doreen, Annette, Neal, and their late sister, Virginia.
On August 1, 1989, Monica became a mother for the first time to her daughter, Katie. Not too long after came October 5, 1991, when she gave birth to her second daughter, Jenny. She loved her daughters with a fierce passion and protective, but tender, nature.
Throughout her life, Monica worked as an actress at 13th Street Theatre and Actors Playhouse and eventually as a noon time aide at Lake Parsippany Elementary School. She was known for being kind, selfless, inspiring, a great friend, and an overall wonderful person.
Outside of work, Monica loved reading, gardening, cooking, and raising her girls. She was an active PTA member, Girl Scout Leader, swim team secretary, and more. She enjoyed being around family and friends, especially around the holidays.
Monica is survived by her two daughters, Katie and Jenny, her grandson, Gabriel, and her siblings, Victoria, Doreen, Annette, and Neal.
A memorial service will be held on March 20, 2026 at 2:00-4:00pm at the Boynton Beach Memorial Chapel.
