Obituary

Nelson A. "Sonny" Williams, age 94, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. He was born in July 1931 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to Nelson E. Williams and Violet Farebrother.

After the loss of his mother, his family relocated to South Florida. Sonny attended Ojus Elementary and Miami Edison in Dade County, and later South Broward High School in Broward County, where he lettered in track and football. Following high school, he continued his love of athletics by playing for an amateur football team in Hollywood, Florida.

Sonny and his beloved wife, Connie L. Brooks, shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and travel with their boys. Together they created countless cherished memories.

Throughout his career, Sonny served as a general manager for a wholesale roofing supply company in Dania, Florida, for over 25 years. He continued working in roofing and building material sales for more than a decade beyond that. He was widely respected in the industry and known for supporting many local small roofing companies throughout South Florida.

Outside of work, Sonny lived life with energy and passion. In the 1950s, he was a dedicated bodybuilder and was featured in both local and national bodybuilding magazines. He had a lifelong love of motorcycles and automobiles. Many weekends were spent in rural Glades County, "working the land" and enjoying time with family riding dirt bikes and swamp buggies, shooting, and gathering around evening bonfires. He especially treasured being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Sonny was the strongest man we knew and never met a stranger. He was kind, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His priorities were his family, his career, his motorcycles, and his dogs — but above all, his family's happiness meant the most to him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Connie; his sons, Kenneth (Carl) of Provincetown, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey (Wendy) of Dunnellon, Florida; his granddaughter, Deanna Williams of Boynton Beach, Florida; his brother-in-law, Lou Brooks (Diana) of LaBelle, Florida; his nephews, Eric Rogers (Carrie) of Boynton Beach, Scott Rogers (Evelyn) of Coral Gables, and Kenny Brooks of LaBelle; his nieces, Tara Rogers of Plantation and Karol Brooks of LaBelle; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Sarah Davis (Lucien) of Greenville, South Carolina; Hannah Rogers of Boynton Beach; Camerin Rogers of Plantation; Lucas Rogers and Isabel Oliva of Coral Gables.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley A. Dick of Ocala, Florida.

The family will hold a private ceremony at home.
