Obituary

Nettie Pearl Rinker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away
peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Delray Beach, Florida. Born to the late
Howard S. Walter, Sr. and Nettie P. Walter of Strasburg, VA, Nettie spent much of her
life in Maryland, where she built a respected career as a customer service
specialist for Channel and several Home Depot locations.
Nettie was known for her warmth, wit, and unwavering dedication to her family. She is
survived by her three daughters: Paula Rinker, Melissa Hagan (Michael Hagan), and
Sheila Nesbit (Sean Nesbit); four grandchildren: Stephanie Smith, Shannon Rinker,
Spencer Nesbit, and Shauna Nesbit; and three great-grandchildren: Willow, Carson,
and River. She also leaves behind two brothers, Harry Walter and David Walter, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Rinker, and their cherished
canine companion, Teddy Bear, and two brothers, Howard S. Walter, Jr. and George W. Walter.
Nettie found joy in life's simple pleasures—traveling to new places, crocheting blankets
and cooking for loved ones, indulging in retail therapy, solving crossword puzzles, and
laughing along with British television comedies. Her generous spirit and sharp sense of
humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 PM at the Charles
Emerson Walter Cemetery in Fort Valley, Virginia. Those wishing to express their
sympathy may do so through Heishman Funeral Service, 159 N. Main Street,
Woodstock, VA 22664.
In honoring Nettie's memory, may we carry forward her legacy of kindness, resilience,
and love.
