Obituary

Hoff, Nicoletta A., 88 of Boynton Beach, FL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Formerly of Chicago, Nickie had been a resident of South Florida since 1969. Nicoletta was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, Kenneth W. Hoff. Mrs. Hoff is survived by her loving family: four children - daughters, Joanne Hertel, Joyce Cory and Jan Sarlo; son, Michael Hoff; six - grandchildren, Stephanie (Nick) Morfogen, Nicole (Bob) Mugavero, Kristen (Peter) Mack, Kenneth (Sandra) Hoff, Angela Sarlo, and Kate (Kevin) Tasillo; and 13 great-grandchildren – John, Hanna, Niko, Joey, Luca, Alex, Christopher, Austin, Adam, Josh, Chloe, Emma and Camden.
Born in Chicago, IL, July 28, 1930, Nickie was the youngest of 6 children born to Joseph and Philomena Tangorra of Bari, Italy. Nickie and Ken met when they were young and were married in 1948. They had a real-life love story that was the foundation for their large and loving family. It was in Chicago that Nickie helped Ken open and run several successful Five and Dime stores, known as ValueVille. Nickie and Ken were very involved in their local community and several charity functions before moving their family to Boca Raton in 1969. At that time, the Hoff's opened the famous, Boton 5 and 10 in Royal Palm Plaza. Many residents fondly remember the Boton as being a landmark in the early days of the City of Boca Raton. As the matriarch, Nickie lived for her family. She was strongly rooted in her love of Christ and was the kindest woman to all who had the honor of knowing her. Nickie was known for her incredible baked goods including lemon cookies, homemade pizzas, bread, cakes and pastries. The Hoff's became known for their famous Sunday dinners that hosted the entire family and countless friends who were always welcome, and for whom there was always enough to eat regardless of how many of them showed up at their door. Nickie adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and started every day with a phone call to each of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids as they grew up. Nickie's legacy will live on through the holiday traditions, countless recipes, joy of entertaining and deep love of her family that she has instilled in each and every one of them. Her kind heart, incredible talents in so many areas and unconditional love will be greatly missed.
