IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicolina
Verruso
October 18, 1927 – November 23, 2024
Nicolina (nee Simonetti) Verruso, aged 97, a longtime resident of Boynton Beach, Florida, and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas More, entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 23, 2024, with her beloved daughter by her side. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late
Paolo and Marianna Simonetti.
Nicolina's life was a testament to her faith and devotion. She honed her skills in dressmaking and sewing at Manhattan International High School graduating in 1945. Her talent as a seamstress was evident in the beautiful garments she lovingly crafted for her family. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Alfonso Verruso, at St. Finbar's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY, and they shared 68 blessed years together.
Her life was filled with love for her family, and she found joy in preparing hearty Italian meals, embodying the spirit of hospitality. Nicolina was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, cherishing the simple pleasures of life and the company of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-granddogs. Nicolina and Alfonso shared a love for music, often singing and performing in church plays,
bringing joy to their community. Her faith was a guiding light, providing comfort and strength throughout her life.
Preceded in death by her husband Alfonso, Nicolina is survived by her sister Theresa Fama, son John Verruso (Dolores), daughter Camille, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
