Norman Joseph Sokolow, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born June 12, 1925 to Diana (nee Ciporin) and Abraham Sokolow in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Central High School in Philadelphia, PA, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, and attended Wagner College receiving a Master's degree in Public Health. He resided in Connecticut and Florida.
Norman served in the United States Navy as Chief Petty Officer and Tail Gunner in World War II. In 1944, his plane was shot down over the Pacific Ocean. He was rescued and received honors for his bravery.
After his honorable discharge, Norman returned home and began his long career in public health. Norman retired to Florida, but kept a seat as Chairman of the Board at Cornerstone Treatment Facilities, Inc until 2016.
Norman was passionate about his collections and loved cruising and vacationing in the Caribbean.
Norman is survived by his wife of 27 years, Michele, of Delray Beach, Florida 4 daughters, Ellen Sokolow (New York), Julie Sokolow (Michigan), Roslyn Sokolow (New York), and Bonnie Derezinski (Arizona); 1 step-daughter Allyson Kane (Connecticut); 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild, both his parents, his sister, Betty, and his brother, Irving.
Visiting hours and funeral will be held

to 12noon at Boynton Memorial Chapel,
