Olga Czerepin passed away peacefully on February 19 at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida at the age of 102
Born in Ufa, Russia and raised in Kamensk and Bobzov, Russia. Attended Pharmacy School and began working as a Pharmacist in 1939. Once World War II began she was separated from some of her family members. Olga, along with her father traveled through eastern Europe escaping the atrocities of war, relocating within Germany with her 2 daughters and extended family.
In 1950 , Olga immigrated to America with her 2 children. She came through New York and could not be prouder to become an American. She talked about this often. She immediately learned to read and write English so she could take the necessary steps to becoming a U.S. citizen. She accomplished her goal of becoming a U.S. citizen in 1957 along with her 2 daughters.
Her name is on the American Immigrant Wall of Honor on Ellis Island.
Olga arrived in Syracuse, New York with her children and extended family. Her father was able to join her shortly there after. She remarried and had 2 more children. She remained in Syracuse until her retirement at age 63. She then moved to El Paso, Texas with her oldest daughter and family. She assisted with raising her 2 oldest grandchildren. Then, at age 98, she moved to Boynton Beach to live with her youngest daughter.
In Olga's earlier years, she enjoyed sewing, ceramics and needlepoint. The family always enjoyed receiving gifts from her art projects signed "Baba." She always loved playing cards, especially Solitaire, doing puzzles and reading German romance books. Her most favorite thing to do was to cook and bake Russian and German dishes to share with family and friends. She made sure her recipes were handed down by gifting the family "Baba's Recipe Book".
Olga was known by family and friends as "Baba". Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. Her loving presence will be missed by her daughters, Helen Ritter and Tina Klaisle, and her sons- in-laws, Kevin Ritter, Gerry Klaisle, Danny Sauer and Marcel Bourgon.
She was very proud of her 6 grandchildren, Rachel Ritter, Kara Mauser and husband Kevin, Mitchell Sauer, Miles Sauer and wife, Melissa, Krista Abele and husband, Jeff, Michael Bourgon and wife Jennifer, and great granddaughter, Tatiana Bourgon.
Olga was preceded in death by her daughters Lydia Sauer and Elvira Bourgon
For those who wish to honor Olga's memory, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions may be made to The American Lung Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County in honor of her daughters.
