IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olinda Guerra
Pires
April 1, 1932 – December 3, 2025
Olinda Guerra Pires, 93, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at her home in Delray Beach, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 1, 1932, in Valbom, Portugal, to Adelino Guerra and Maria Candida Matias.
In 1967, Olinda and her beloved husband, Manuel Joaquim Pires, courageously immigrated to the United States with their three oldest daughters, settling in Yonkers, New York. There they built a warm and welcoming home rooted in love, faith, and tradition. A devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yonkers, Olinda served humbly as a Eucharistic Minister and generously shared her time and talents with her parish community.
Olinda worked for many years as a housekeeper at St. Joseph Hospital in Yonkers, where she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and gentle spirit. She later continued to express her faith and generosity by crocheting blankets to donate to her church—each stitch a testament to her love for others.
In 2022, Olinda relocated to Delray Beach, where she became a faithful attendee at The Grace of Queen Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing with her husband throughout their life together, found joy in reading, and cherished every moment spent with her family.
Olinda was predeceased by her devoted husband, Manuel Joaquim Pires. She is survived by her children: George Manuel Pires; Elza Pires Ferreira; Marialice Pires Senal (pre-deceased by Dr. Eugene Senal); Emilia Pires Da Rocha (Mario); and Marco Paulo Pires (Kristen).
She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: George Albert Pires; Jennifer Magalhaes (Tony); Christopher Ferreira (Heidi); Mario Rui Da Rocha, Jr. (Melissa); Jeffrey Da Rocha (Amanda); Melissa Pires Zbranak (Nick); Anthony Pires; and Marina Pires.
Olinda's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Julian Pires, Antonio Magalhaes, Alexandra Magalhaes, Gabriel Magalhaes, Alyssa Ferreira, Dylan Ferreira, Mario Rui Da Rocha III, Vasco Manuel Da Rocha, Liliana Da Rocha, and Lucia Zbranak.
Olinda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generosity, her love of family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her gentle presence and the example she set will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
Olinda will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Manuel, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: the Parkinson's Foundation or Our Lady of Fatima, Yonkers, NY.
