IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Philip
Valentini
September 26, 1936 – January 12, 2020
On Sunday, January 12, 2020, Philip Maria Valentini, loving husband of 38 years to his devoted wife Jeanne and father to his three beautiful daughters, Diana, Loretta, and Donna, passed away at the age of 83.
Affectionately known as Philly, he was born in Montegiardino, San Marino, an alluring country in Italy and the oldest extant sovereign state as well as the oldest constitutional republic.
Phil was a highly skilled machinist, trained in Bologna, Italy at the young age of 11. His father Valentino, a mason by trade, emigrated to Sandusky, Ohio in 1948. He established himself in Long Island, NY, and in 1952, he sent for his wife and four children, Philip, Italo, Corrado, and Lillian. Phil proudly became an American citizen at age 18 and maintained his dual citizenship status.
Phil's first job in the industry was for a company named Hicksville Machine. It was there where Phil would leave his mark both on earth and on the moon. He was contracted to make the ladder for the Apollo 11 mission moon landing. The same ladder that Neil Armstrong would one day push off of and be the first person to step foot on the moon famously proclaiming the words, "That's one small step for man; one giant step for mankind". The ladder remains on the moon forever. Well done Phil!
In 1975 Phil decided to open his own machine shop he would call PV Tool. A short time later, Jeanne would quit her job and join him as PV Tool office manager where they built a very successful company together. In 1982 they would be married in San Marino and remain happy both as husband and wife and as business partners. They loved to travel and to stop at Gatsby's Pub for a drink and to laugh with friends.
Phil is survived by his wife, Jeanne Valentini, daughters Diana Milenkovic (Karl), Loretta Cowley, Donna Neathery and six grandchildren, Karl III, Alyssa, Taylor, Kenneth III, Ronald Jr., and Corey. When Phil entered the gates of heaven he was reunited with his father Valentino, his mother Venusta, and his brother Corrado.
Phil was a determined man who lived by the mantra to "always do what is right". His famous last words: 'I am happy and I love you all.' We truly believe he is in perfect peace.
