IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis K.
Lennon
September 16, 1930 – August 31, 2021
Phyllis Elaine Kirkpatrick Moore Abeel Lennon passed away of natural causes at her home with her family by her side, August 31, a few weeks shy of her 91 st birthday.
Born September 16, 1930 in Bloomington, Illinois, Phyllis was the only daughter of Lamon and Lorena Ummel Kirkpatrick and was sister of Richard and Darald Warren Kirkpatrick. She studied at Illinois Wesleyan for an RN. Moving to Southern Florida in 1961. During her 60-year Florida residency Phyllis established the Candy Striper volunteer group, serving her community for many years. Many of these young women went on to careers in nursing and the medical field thanks to the enthusiasm that Phyllis imparted to these women. In her younger years she also became a renowned fisherwoman, landing bluefin tuna and black marlin that made world record books. Later Phyllis became a passionate bridge player achieving master status and was a founding member of the "Crazy Eights" bridge group amongst others. Each morning she would complete crossword puzzles in pen while sipping on her morning coffee.
Phyllis had an electric personality and always flashed a magnetic smile that made everyone feel special. It won her many friends. She was a member of the Ocean Club of Florida, Manalapan Yacht Club, and the Little Club of Gulfstream Florida.
