Richard G. LaRochelle, 83, passed away on November 1, 2021.
Dick was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1938. He was the son of the late Freeman and Eunice (Jackson) LaRochelle. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1956. For years, he lived in Canaan, NY and Kinderhook, NY, before relocating to Del Ray Beach, FL.
He spent most of his career in Albany, NY as an Advertising Art Director. He worked at Halpin/Williams Associates for several years, and then at Van De Car, De Porte & Johnson, Inc. for 16 years.
He was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Capital District United Way, a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Tri-City Ad Club and was president of the Ad Club in 1989-1990. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Tannery Pond Concerts in New Lebanon, NY for 9 years and a member of the Board of Directors of the Shaker Mountain Performing Arts Festival in New Lebanon, NY and Pittsfield, MA. He was also a past member of the Great Barrington Kennel Club.
He loved traveling and started visiting Europe in 1984 and continued to travel there annually until 2004.
He leaves his beloved companion, partner-in-life, and husband, Robert F. Barile, his sister, Barbara Schelb, and sister-in-law, Cathy LaRochelle, 9 nieces and nephews, 21 grand nieces and nephews, and 3 great grand nieces and nephews, as well as his family of many dear and wonderful friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother, William LaRochelle, his sisters, Donna Belanger and Margo Hamel, and his brothers-in-law, Donald Hamel and Robert Schelb.
Throughout his life, Dick gave to many charities of his own choosing, so in lieu of flowers, please send donations to his favorite and deserving charities, The Trevor Project, WMHT-TV or PBS.
Boynton Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with his arrangements.
