IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rick
Brautigan
April 1, 1951 – May 21, 2021
Paul Richard Brautigan, Rick to all, passed away on Friday May 21, 2021.
Rick was born in Washington, DC on April 1, 1951 but spent his early years in the Fort Lauderdale area where he graduated Nova High School. His love for football developed at an early age as a striving athlete which landed him on the Marshall University football team. At a young age, he was the head of the Lauderdale-by-the Sea building department. From there he went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Florida A & M and a second Bachelor's degree from Auburn University.
Rick pursued his passion for Architecture and trains his entire life. As a prominent Architect in Delray Beach, FL, his unique and inspirational designs flourished his practice - Rick Brautigan Architecture for 32 years. Not to mention the endless number of people he mentored and was a father figure and a friend to until his last day.
It was impossible to speak about Rick without saying "He always made me laugh", "He always had a story to share" and "He had had a big heart and was always so generous".
His love for trains created his passion for traveling. Train enthusiast was an understatement. A lifelong connoisseur of food and spirits, he could often be found gracing the tables of area restaurants with his wit, sarcasm and glorious sense of humor.
He is remembered with great love by his wife of 20 years, Janet Brautigan, daughter Tammy Goobeck (Ken), brother Kim Brautigan (Kathy), and 3 grandchildren Troy Kirkpatrick, Kaitlyn Goobeck and Jake Goobeck. He was the oldest son of the late Jackie and Paul Brautigan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 12:00 at Boynton Memorial Chapel. Reception information will be given at the service. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Turtletown, TN.
