IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Riec
Morrick
December 31, 1951 – March 16, 2025
RieC Morrick passed away on March 16th at VITAS Hospice in Delray Beach, Florida, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Celia (RieC.) Marie Morrick to Bonnie and Wallace Morrick (both deceased) on December 31, 1951, at Fort McCoy Military Base in Wisconsin. RieC. was the eldest of five children and is survived by her siblings: Jeanne, Gail, Bruce, Kerry, and multiple nieces and nephews. Her childhood was filled with music, the great outdoors, and animals. Her love of the piano, nurtured by her mother, became the foundation for her collegiate studies and her career.
RieC. had a rich and varied musical career. She had her own all-female band, wrote jingles for commercials in Chicago, and worked as an agent for several female singers in New York and Europe. She spent many a night in the Village in New York performing in various venues. Her work was recognized in Billboard magazine. A prolific lyricist and composer, RieC. wrote hundreds and hundreds of songs. Along with Alecia Ansley, she also had a greeting card company in California called Bumbershoot.
RieC. had a deep love of reading and writing, and she nurtured her soul with the ancient writings of the past.
After a multi-car pile-up in New York, RieC. became disabled. She spent the last years of her life caring for her mother, Bonnie Brucher, in Boynton Beach, Florida. After her mother passed, RieC. became an advocate for homeless cats in the Boynton Beach area, caring for their food and medical needs.
RieC was definitely a character, with a unique perspective on life, holding on to Eastern philosophies as the basis of her belief systems, along with the beliefs of her mother's church, the Seventh-Day Adventist.
RieC.loved the ocean and requested that she be laid to rest out at sea, and that no services are to be held. The family will honor her wishes privately at a later date.
