Robert Henry Lins, 87, long time residence of Deerfield, IL, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2014 supported by the compassion of Hospice of Palm Beach and surrounded by family and his beloved community of Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach, FL. "Bob" was born Feb 4, 1927 in Waterbury, CT to Catherine and Arthur Lins. He had twin older brothers, Charles Arthur and Norton. In the 1940s, the Lins family lived in Park Ridge, IL where he graduated from Maine Township School.
On Dec 7, 1941, when the bombing of Pearl Harbor Hawaii was announced, all three Lins brothers joined the military for World War II. From 1944-1946 Bob was in the US Marine Corp and stationed at Camp Lejeune NC.
After the Marines, Bob went to Millikin University, Northwestern University, and graduated in 1950 from Loyola University in Chicago. While at Loyola, he met his life-long partner Louise Dombrowski.
Bob's career was devoted to writing advertising. He worked for many famous advertising agencies: Leo Burnett, DDBO, and Clinton E Frank. From 1975-1990, Bob was Creative Director for McDonald's Corp Advertising, a job that took him around the world
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years Louise, daughters Patty Lins (Larry Sutter), of Houghton MI, and Pamela Lins (Halsey Rodman), Brooklyn NY, and son–in-law Douglas Bakke, Sedro Woolley, WA. His grandchildren Tess Bakke, Bob Bakke, and Lena Sutter also survive him along with brother Art and his family. Daughter Karan Lins Bakke preceded him in death.
