Washburn, Richard Wesley, 80, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007 at his residence. Richard was born on May 15, 1927 to the late Harold and Evelyn (Mugford) Washburn in Mansfield, MA where he continued to live until he relocated to Florida in 1989. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II aboard the amphibious landing craft, the USS Burleson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years: Virginia Washburn, sister: Dorothy Fowler of Mansfield, MA, daughters: Betty McCarthy of Forestdale, MA, Sandie McCowan of Boca Raton, FL and Peggy Salamone of Brooksville, FL, son: Richard S. Washburn of Boca Raton, FL, also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation with a closed casket will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2007 from 11 am-12 pm at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 West Boynton Beach Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33426 (561) 734-5600. A Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm at Boynton Memorial Chapel ending with Navy honors.
