Obituary

Romeo Santy, 94, of Boynton Beach Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Romeo was born on September 4,1929 in Westmorland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son
of his late father John Santy and his late mother Cesarina Santy.

Romeo grew up in western PA. He enjoyed sharing his childhood stories and memories with his
family, which will always be etched in our hearts. Some of his childhood adventures include
hiking in the woods and finding arrow heads, hand delivering newspapers throughout West
Vandergrift and driving at the young age of 12 to take his brother Frank to Pittsburgh where he
was surprised to meet and get autographs from several Pittsburgh Pirates players, his favorite
childhood team!

Romeo moved to South Florida in 1964. He worked for The Prudential Insurance Company until
his retirement in 1988. Romeo had a very strong work ethic, which was demonstrated through
his success in his career and personal life, and longevity with the company. Romeo was loyal to
his clients, always looking after their best interests when selling insurance. He developed many
close friendships with fellow agents throughout the time working for Prudential, which carried on
through his aging years. He and his Prudential buddies would often get together on a Friday
night for their traditional fish fry. Romeo's specialty was his Linguine and clam sauce! Delizioso!
Romeo was a devout Catholic and relied on his faith all his life. Attending mass every Sunday
was of utmost importance in his life which he made it a point to instill this value in his children
and grandchildren. Romeo attended St. Matthews Catholic Church in Boynton Beach Florida
where he served as an usher for many years.

Romeo had many hobbies. He loved gardening and had a natural green thumb. He would often
take seeds from various plants that caught his eye, plant them, then watch them grow! He had
an amazing ability to successfully propagate just about any plant. One of his prized trees grown
from an exotic almond tree seed from the Bahamas is now a full-size tree beautifying the
landscape along Jog Road in Boynton Beach Florida. Romeo also enjoyed fishing and hiking.
His grandchildren have fond memories of going on fishing trips with Papa. He would very
patiently teach them the ropes. Romeo had a love for nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed
taking his children and grandchildren on hikes and teaching them about the names of various
plants and trees, which was so impressive how much he knew! His grandchildren attribute their
love for nature and the outdoors to their grandfather's influence.

Romeo was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for all who came to visit. He liked to
experiment in the kitchen and create his own special dishes. He often baked his own bread
which was made with yeast that he grew on his own from a cabbage leaf! He enjoyed making
homemade pasta and his spaghetti sauce was out of this world.

Romeo was an avid sports enthusiast and a great athlete himself. He was a natural at a vast
number of sports. He played baseball throughout his life and even played on a senior team in
his 70's! In his adult years Romeo enjoyed playing tennis and competed in many tennis duos
with his friends from Prudential and his son John. Romeo also ran in many races. He was
proud to say he completed a 10K Heart Run race in his late sixties. Romeo was a dedicated fan
to all his favorite sports teams, particularly the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Marlins. He
attended many games and was sure to watch them on TV every chance he could.

Romeo enjoyed his retirement years traveling with his wife Sheila, touring and exploring many
countries. He also spent time visiting with family, friends and neighbors.
Romeo is preceded in death by his father John Santy, mother Cesarina Santy, sisters Grace,
