Sharon L. Dyer
(April 30, 1955 – February 7, 2016)
Sharon L. Dyer, 60 passed away on February 7th after a long battle with cancer. Daughter to the late John E. and Gladys J. Mahar, she was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Sharon graduated from Conestoga Valley High School then moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she worked for Dr. Chuck Meyer. Upon his retirement many years later she returned to Lancaster and worked for Dr. Barton Halperin. In August of 1991 she was reunited with a family friend, Scott Dyer who had moved to Florida many years earlier. A year later she married Scott and moved to his home in South Florida to begin their life together with his son Christopher. While living in South Florida she assisted Scott with his Architectural firm until in beginning of her illness.
Sharon's interest include traveling, music, singing, scrapbooking, crafts, wedding and event planning and especially her love for her Weimaraner puppies. Her most cherished possession was the love of her friends, family and faith.
Sharon is survived by her husband Scott Dyer, step-son Christopher (Renee) Dyer, granddaughter Caylee Dyer, sister Carol (Howard) Hershey, mother-in-law Jean Dyer, and brother-in-law Timothy Dyer, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father John (Jack) E. Mahar, mother Gladys J. Mahar and father-in-law Devonde H. Dyer.
The family will receive family and friends at the visitation on Thursday, February 11th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 West Boynton Beach Boulevard, Boynton Beach, Florida. Final funeral service and burial will be in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue at peggyadams.org.
