Obituary

Sharon W. Powderly-Fanning, age 79, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Shrewsbury, MA, died unexpectedly but peacefully on February 25, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late John Fanning, the devoted mother of Jennifer Powderly, Jonathan Powderly and his wife Heather, of Kingston, MA; dearest grandmother of Liv and Max Colombo and Allison and Sean Powderly; sister of John Winberg and wife Ann of The Villages, FL. She is also survived by her first husband, Richard Powderly and wife Michelle of Kingston, MA. Sharon cherished her step children, Richard and Ginger Fanning, Stephanie and Joseph George, and Erin Fanning and Fulgencio Lazo along with their families. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and many beloved lifelong friends. Sharon was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Porter, her parents Bob and Shirley (Craft) Winberg.

As a graduate of Brockton High School, Sharon spent many treasured years raising her family in Shrewsbury and managing an endodontic practice in Worcester, MA , before retiring to Delray Beach with her husband, John.  She loved gardening and flowers of all kinds, and she was an immaculate keeper of all things. Nana will be remembered by her family and friends as a generous caretaker and companion. She loved travel, her Friday lunch dates, a game of cards, but most of all her grandchildren.  Even while retired in Delray Beach, Sharon traveled north to create wonderful beach and boating memories with her family on the south shore of Massachusetts, and she enjoyed countless memorable trips with her Shrewsbury girls.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11am at Duxbury Bay Maritime School, 457 Washington Street, Duxbury, MA. Anyone wishing to honor Sharon's memory is asked to do so with a donation to the food pantry at the Plymouth Area Coalition, 149 Bishops Highway, Kingston, MA 02364 or by planting some beautiful flowers in your garden.
