IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Patrick
Graham
April 5, 1943 – July 19, 2025
Stephen Patrick Graham, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Born in Holyoke, MA, on April 5, 1943, Stephen was the son of the late Peter F. Graham and Rose (McAlea) Graham. He graduated from Tenney High School in Methuen, MA in 1961, and went on to earn his BA in Education from New England College in Henniker, NH, class of 1965. He also proudly served in the Army Reserve.
Stephen went on to enjoy a legendary 40-year teaching career at Tyngsboro High School, where he inspired countless students with his wit, wisdom, and trademark dry humor. His time in the classroom could've been a movie, equal parts heart, grit, and chalkboard dust. In addition to teaching, he coached basketball and eventually became the school's Athletic Director, leading all sports programs with the same energy he brought to every game.
After retiring from education, Stephen shifted gears and began his "second act" as a licensed optician, still helping people see the world more clearly, just in a different way.
A lifelong learner and history buff, Stephen loved nothing more than a good book, a great documentary, or sharing a random fun fact with anyone within earshot (whether they asked or not). His true passion, however, was reserved for Boston sports, especially the Patriots. He proudly claimed to have attended their very first game in 1960, and his wardrobe has been mostly red, white, and blue ever since.
He went by many names, Stephen, Stevie, Grumpy, The Hawk, each one a badge of honor earned from different chapters of his life. To his lifelong friends, he was "The Hawk," always game for a laugh, a story, or a little mischief. To his family, he was "Grumpy" a name he wore with pride, especially when it came with grandkids attached.
He adored his family beyond words. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy. While they may not have always appreciated his relentless photo sharing on social media, he was determined to show them off anyway.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan (Forgione) Graham; his daughter, Shauna Graham McNellis and her husband Michael McNellis; his grandchildren Liam McNellis, Olivia McNellis, Jordan, and Austin; and his great-grandson Hunter DeLima.
He leaves behind a legacy of humor, heart, and headstrong loyalty, especially to the Patriots. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and never out-cheered. He was one of a kind, and the world's best "Grumpy."
