IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Suzanne Marie
Kiernan
March 30, 1935 – August 9, 2020
Suzanne (Sue) Marie Kiernan, 85, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020. Sue was born on March 30, 1935, in New York City to Thomas and Honora (Reardon) Clough. The Cloughs raised their family of five in Rye, New York. Sue's beloved siblings were sisters Ellen and Honora, and brothers Thomas and John (Jackie). Sue attended the Resurrection School in Rye and Albertus Magnus College. Sue met the love of her life, John B. Kiernan, growing up in Rye together, and they were married at Resurrection Church in 1956. Sue and John's beloved son and only child John (Jack) B. Kiernan, Jr. was born the following year.
Sue's husband John was a successful executive at the Uniroyal Tire Company, and his job took the family to a variety of locations including Edinburgh, Scotland; Newtown, Connecticut; and Canada, where they lived both outside of Toronto and in Kitchener, Ontario. With every move, Sue made new and lasting friendships through golf, curling and her wonderful warmth and sense of humor. Sue leaves many dear friends at Quail Ridge, in Boynton Beach, Florida, where Sue and John retired and enjoyed golf and warm friendships for many years.
Sue is survived by her beloved husband John; their son Jack, his wife Mary Lee and their daughters Christine and Carolyn; her brother Thomas Clough; and her nephew Matt Bonner and niece Martha Simmons. Sue leaves a legacy of complete devotion to her beloved family. Her parents and four siblings meant the world to her, and they remained close throughout their lives. Sue was a loving and devoted mother to Jack, supporting him at every baseball game or golf tournament that he competed in. Sue was adored by her son Jack, daughter-in-law Mary Lee, and most especially by her beloved granddaughters, Christine and Carolyn.
The Kiernans wish to acknowledge and thank the staff at Bethesda Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. Funeral services will be private, and Sue will be buried at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, New York. A celebration of Sue's life will take place at a later date.
