Obituary

Terry Lane Farley passed away at the age of 71 at his home in Boynton Beach, Florida on Saturday, September 24th after a 3 year battle with lung cancer. Terry was born in Elkridge Holler, West Virginia on April 30th, 1951; although, He grew up with his siblings in East Chicago, Indiana.

As a young adult, Terry owned a bicycle shop before moving onto car sales. He was a clever businessman and an even better salesman. He brought success to anywhere he worked. Terry believed in hustle, style, and staying cool under pressure. A good friend to many, His charismatic and charming personality made him easy to love.
Terry met the love of his life Cheryl in 1985, and he fell for her immediately. After some time, he proposed. They held the ceremony in their backyard, the bride and groom standing in a gazebo he'd built just for her. They both had two children respectively, so when the children decided their cabbage patch kids needed to be included in the wedding, Terry made sure the front row of the seats were reserved for them. Once the day was over, Terry could officially call his love Mrs. Cheryl Farley. In their now shared home, Terry, Cheryl, and their 4 girls settled in. Soon after they had a son. Brought together in love, Terry and Cheryl experienced a loving and supportive marriage until the end.
As a grandfather, Terry- now Granpa- excelled anew, creating invaluable memories, whether it be from an enthralling vacation or simply teaching a young grandchild how to play certain games or how to assemble and reassemble various things. On vacations, he always went all out, even driving grandchildren up to Callaway Gardens in his bright red convertible and relaxing by the pool. Memories with him always contain an air of carefree stability and fun. When given the chance, he loved to teach the youngest how to built anything from chairs to how to assemble his walker. Grandkids delighted in their new skills At home, it was calmer as he taught grandchildren how to play chess, checkers, or rummy. He would of course allow the grandkids to win a couple times at first before he'd start playing for real. One could always tell when they'd won fair and square as his face would open up into a proud, knowing grin.
In his last, most challenging months, he remained a supportive figure. If he could not walk around, he could tell jokes and give advice as he sat. If he could no longer plan ambitious vacations, he could still sit down and teach a grandchild Othello or mancala. In moments he relied on others, he was thankful for those who cared for him, so kindly and gently. He was a good, patient man who did his best to be a strong paternal figure even when his condition worsened. Despite the struggles of lung cancer, he never complained or questioned why it had happened to him. He accepted it simply had.
A fantastic man and caring paternal figure, Terry will be greatly missed. His salesman charm and pragmatic nature, now gone from the family, have left an unfillable hole that will continue on to contain precious memories of the man we all loved and all will miss. Terry and Cheryl's love and devotion to one another remains a source of admiration and strength for those he left behind.
