Obituary

Age 83 of Boynton Beach died June 29, 2015 at home from lung cancer. Born on April 21, 1932 in Newark, NJ, the first of five children to Vincent R. Cahill and Dorothy Borneman Cahill. Vincent was predeceased by his oldest son Terry in 2007, by his grandson TJ Cahill in 2005, and by his brother Richard in 2007.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Marilyn; son Timothy (Carroll) of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; daughter Katy Young (Andy Batten) of Silver Springs, MD; granddaughters, Mackenzie and Morgan Young; great-grandson, TJ Cahill of FL; sister Emy Lou LaVecchia of Dorset, VT; brother, Robert Cahill of VT; brother, Peter Cahill of Middletown, NJ; stepsons Craig Stevens of Avon, NJ and Scott Stevens of Pt. Pleasant, NJ; and a host of adoring nieces and nephews.
Vincent proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and is a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge, he graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Economics and was a stockbroker in NYC. He had a long career in the auto industry in NJ. After moving to Florida in 1988 he worked in the auto industry; then Marks Paving in West Palm Beach for several years. When he retired, he worked for several years as a ranger at golf clubs in the area including Ibis Country Club, Polo Club and Addison Reserve. When hip replacement forced him to leave the golf jobs, he worked for 7 years as a volunteer 3 days a week at Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach in the Outpatient Dept., where he made many wonderful friends and helped many patients.
Vincent was an excellent and avid golfer all his life and was fortunate to play golf every day for many years in Florida. He kept in touch all his life with friends he grew up with and his military buddies. He was the most loyal friend anyone could want and will be missed deeply.
A Visitation will be held from 2-5pm Monday, July 6, 2015 at Boynton Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Delray Beach followed by burial with Military Honors at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
