Vita Rose Tocco, 100, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1925, in New York City to Anthony and Josephine Rugnetta. Vita attended Julia Richmond High School, where she developed a lifelong love of reading. She was also a gifted cook who lovingly carried forward treasured family traditions learned from her mother and grandmother.
In September 1956, Vita married Joseph Tocco in Brooklyn, New York, beginning a devoted partnership that remained central to her life. She began her career at Bloomingdale’s Department Store, later worked as a court recorder, and went on to serve as a private secretary at Dun and Bradstreet on Wall Street. She was known for her efficiency, warmth, and professionalism. A woman of deep faith, Vita also dedicated many years to supporting her local church through fundraising for parish outreach.
Vita is survived by her dear sister, Rosalie (Cyril) of Gilbert, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Tocco; her parents; and her brothers, Vincent (Angela) and Joseph (Ninfa). She is also lovingly remembered by 11 nieces and nephews, 27 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 35 great-great-nieces and great- great-nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Boynton Beach. Burial will follow at Madonna Catholic Cemetery in Teaneck, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial Masses would be appreciated.
