William (Bill) Henry, age 93, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born to Elizabeth De Wolfe and William Henry in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Bill was raised in northern New Jersey and graduated from St. John’s High School in Paterson, where he excelled in history and math.

After high school, Bill began training as a land surveyor before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served in the SeaBees, working on construction projects in the Philippines and other Pacific islands.

Upon his discharge, he returned to New Jersey to pursue his career as a surveyor. It was there he met the love of his life, Theresa (Terry) Walek. They married in Butler, NJ, and shared 67 years of marriage, raising four children together.

Bill’s career was marked by initiative and dedication. He rose to become the chief of surveys for the northeast at Deleuw Cather, a prominent engineering firm. Later, after identifying issues with bus service during his morning commute, he wrote to the head of Transport of New Jersey. His letter led to a job offer and a 30-year career as a transportation service planner with "TNJ" (later NJ Transit).

He took this same initiative advocating for his son’s special education needs, and was invited to join the Kinnelon School Board, where he served as a member and vice president for several years.

In retirement, Bill and Terry traveled in Europe, cruised the Panama Canal, and cherished time visiting their adult children and grandchildren. They moved to Vero Beach Florida, where they spent many happy years before moving to Boynton Beach to be closer to their daughter.

Bill’s interests were cars, history, and aviation. He was handy and enjoyed tinkering with cars, maintaining his home and pool.

He will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit, loyalty, and devotion to his Catholic faith. A dedicated husband and father, Bill was a mentor to many and gave his children the advice and encouragement to pursue their educational and career dreams.

Bill is survived by his wife, Terry; his daughters, Laura Gallo and Terry Henry; his son-in-law, Rick Luhmann; and granddaughters, Tess and Gwen Luhmann. He was predeceased by his sons, Bill and Steven, and his son-in-law, John Gallo.

A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held on March 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 643 NE 4th Avenue, Boynton Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Franciscan Bread for the Poor Here.
