William D. Lang, Sr., age 85, of Boynton Beach, FL died peacefully on March 3, 2008. He was born in Manhattan, NY and has lived in Boynton Beach, FL since 1971. He was a decorated Purple Heart veteran of WWII.
Bill's wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews were always the center of his life. He would always entertain them with his life experiences, things that he read, and some of the funniest jokes you ever heard. His second love was his love of golf. Bill could be seen on golf courses in both Westchester County, NY and Palm Beach County, FL. He competed and won several amateur tournaments over his life span.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mimi of 63 years; his son, William D. Lang, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL; his two daughters: Mary Ann DiMarzio of Acworth, GA and Virginia A. Lang, PhD, of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Lisa M. Gunther-LaVergne, PhD and Richard E. Gunther, Jr., both of Greensboro, NC; Aimee-Marette C. Pulley, JD of Las Vegas, NV; Philip B. Gunther, II of San Diego, CA; Ashlee M. DiMarzio and Gabrielle M. DiMarzio, both of Acworth, GA. Bill is also survived by five great grandchildren: Sarah E. Fiori, Melissa A. Fiori, Alec J. LaVergne, Lindsey B. Gunther, all of Greensboro, NC and Rory Fae Pulley of Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, March 6, at Boynton Memorial Chapel from 6pm-8pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, March 7, 2008 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach. Interment will take place at Fern Hill Memorial Gardens, Stuart, FL, immediately following the funeral mass.
