Willie Richard Ray, aged 74, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 24, 2018, at Memorial Regional Hospital, in Hollywood Florida, after complications from surgery. During the last several years, Willie fought valiantly against the devastating effects of diabetes. Willie was born October 6, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of John and Lillian Ray.

Willie loved metal detecting at the beach, fishing, growing his own collard greens and pineapples, going on cruises, visiting the mountains of Georgia, and spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren.

In 1978, Willie married the love of his life, Judi, in Hollywood, Florida. They each had children from previous marriages, but the blended family was a blessing to all of them. Together, they had many years of fun, laughter, and family vacations.

A master salesman, Willie quickly rose up through the ranks in the sales industry, mainly the health food industry with Hain Pure Food Company. During his years with Hain, Willie held the title of Eastern Regional Sales Manager and won many prestigious awards.

Willie and Judi moved to Boynton Beach in December, 2015, after residing in Hollywood for 38 years. They enjoyed making many friends together in their new community and greatly enjoyed their new home.

Willie is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Talmand, Nathaniel, Clifford, Samuel, and a sister, Louise. He is survived by his wife and loving caregiver, Judi; a sister, Betty; children, Robert (Donna), Christopher (Dara), Michele; grandsons, Dustin, Garrett, Matthew; a great-granddaughter, Mia, and many nieces and nephews.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather who had an exuberant personality and loved making people laugh is who Willie was... and it is how he will forever be remembered.

A private Celebration of Life gathering will take place for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association are appreciated.
