Age 89, of Boynton Beach, died January 25, 2010. She had lived in this area since 1985 coming from Queens, NY. Ruth was born May 9, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY. She had been an Avon Representative for 48 years and the secretary to the president of Oomphies Slippers. Ruth had been a member of the Catholic Daughters and The Rosary Society of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bellerose, NY. In Boynton Beach, she was a volunteer at Manor Care and a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Edward J. Johnston; son, Gerard Johnston; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Timothy Horsting; two grandchildren, Brian and Melissa Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1pm, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach. A visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach.
